The 2nd International Lotus Symposium, will be held at
the Missouri Botanical Gardens in conjunction with the International
Botanical Congress (IBC) in August 1999 at the Missouri Botanical
Gardens in St. Louis, Missouri. Complete information about the
IBC can be found at their web site http://www.ibc99.org.
The IBC facilitates the gathering of Lotus researchers
to the 2nd Lotus Symposium to review important research
plus get an update of research progress in the five-years since
the 1st Symposium.
The 2nd International Lotus Symposium is included as one
of many IBC symposiums and in the IBC program it is entitled "The
science and technology of the Lotea". The Lotus Symposium
has been developed with the intention that it would include a
diversity of topics and discussions that would benefit any delegate
that conducts research on complex species. The Lotus Symposium
is scheduled to be held on Monday, August 2, from1:30-3:30 pm.
Volunteer research presentations and reports particular to Lotus
are encouraged. These presentations would be made the day after
the Lotus Symposium session at the IBC when the program
of the 2nd International Lotus Symposium would move to
a new site on 3 August, for a full day of presentations and reports
particular to Lotus spp.
Volunteer papers (poster presentations) should be submitted to
the IBC per instructions found on their website http://www.ibc99.org/.
Abstracts are due 1 April 1999. If you volunteer a paper
please notify one of the co-chairs, Paul Beuselinck beuselinckp@missouri.edu
or Phillip Morris phillip.morris@bbsrc.ac.uk,
so we can develop the August 3rd program. You will
not be limited to a poster presentation at the August 3rd
program. If you wish to present a verbal slide presentation please
advise us. We will need to know the title of your presentation,
authorship, your institutional affiliation, location, and address
(preferably your e-mail address). You will be contacted to confirm
your submission.
At this time we have not determined a registration fee. It will be a small fee, but recognize that it will be extra to what you will pay for IBC registration. The Lotus Symposium will not receive any of the fees collected by the IBC.
