Welcome to GRIP I for the World Wide Web. The information included in this database has been kindly provided by many wheat scientists from around the globe, and their contribution is gratefully acknowledged. The objective of the GRIP project was to provide wheat scientists with a germplasm information resource to assist with wheat improvement. The authors originally anticipated gathering basic passport and genealogical information for some 50,000 genotypes of wheat, triticale and related species. This was a conservative estimate - the GRIP I database now contains information on over 130,000 genotypes after examining some 350,000 records, and there are still many genotypes to be included.

GRIP I is intended to be a resource for scientists working in wheat improvement. The information included has been checked where possible, however the authors of GRIP I would like to emphasise that they, or their employing organisations, cannot accept any responsibility for inaccurate data. Scientists are free to use the information contained in GRIP I as they wish, but they must not use the database for any commercial gain.

It is recognised that there is duplication, conflicting information, and errors in this dataset. Wheat scientists are encouraged to provide new information, bring our attention to any errors, and make suggestions for the improvement of future datasets. which will determine the ultimate value of this type of resource to wheat improvement. GRIP I contains facilities for scientists to do this. Contact information is provided in the Help windows.
