Brad Fresenburg
CAFNR Outstanding Teaching Award (Apr 2008)
Recipients must demonstrate clarity of presentations and assignments, variability of instructional materials and teaching methodology, enthusiasm for their subject matter and teaching in general, and a task-oriented teaching style that provides a variety of opportunities for students to learn.
Brett Naylor
Outstanding Junior Award from the CAFNR Student Council (Apr 2008)
These awards were started in 1998 by the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Student Council. Individual class awards are given to students who demonstrate leadership and CAFNR activity involvement.
Craig Roberts
J.W. Burch State Specialist Agricultural Extension Award (Apr 2008)
The J. W. Burch Award for exceptional extension program leadership recognizes state specialists for their effectiveness of program leadership with field staff, quality of extension publications, presentations and other educational materials, and recognition by state and national peers for their program quality.
Robert Sharp
Frederick B. Mumford Outstanding Faculty Award (Apr 2008)
This award recognizes a College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources faculty member for a sustained record of excellence in teaching, research and/or extension/outreach. The awardee will demonstrate enthusiasm for and excellence in teaching, be a caring mentor and be viewed as an exemplary educator by both students and faculty.
Nadia Navarrete-Tindall
Missouri Conservationist of the Year (Feb 2008)
The Missouri Department of Conservation has only given this award 55 times since the early 1940's. Nadia's accomplishments included a multidisciplinary approach to conservation as well as her work with minorities.
Daniel Earlywine
Third Place in the poster competition for Industry Committee at the ASA/CSSA/SSSA meetings in New Orleans. (Nov 2007)
Daniel's poster was on ‘Evaluation of Yellow Mustard Seed Meal for Weed Control’.
Maru Kering
Second Place in the Seed Physiology Division of the Graduate Student Competition at the International CSSA/ASA/SSSA meeting in New Orleans, LA. (Nov 2007)
Maru's presentation was titled “Manganese Fertilization Effect on Photosynthesis and Yield of Pearl Millet and Purple Amaranth .”

First Place in the Forages and Grazinglands Division of the Graduate Student Competition at the International CSSA/ASA/SSSA meeting in New Orleans, LA. (Nov 2007)
Missy's presentation was titled “Is Leaf Nitrogen in Stockpiled Tall Fescue Used for Root Growth During Winter?”

Elected Fellow to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). (Oct 2007)
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association. It is one of the elite scientific organizations in the world. Election as a Fellow of AAAS is an honor bestowed upon members by their peers in recognition of their meritorious efforts to advance science or its applications.
Newell Kitchen
Elected Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy (Oct 2007)
Fellow is the highest recognition bestowed by each Society. Up to 0.3 percent of each Society's Active and Emeritus Members may be elected to Fellow. This award will be received at the upcoming American Society of Agronomy-Crop Science Society of America-Soil Science Society of America annual meetings in New Orleans.
Tammy McNiel
2007 Ag Leadership Award from the Missouri Agricultural Extension Professionals (Oct 2007)
This award is given to any farmer, agribusiness person, media or agricultural agency employee who has provided leadership in Missouri agriculture and has made significant contributions to University of Missouri Extension. Nominations are taken from our membership and two recipients are given the award at our Annual Meeting or during another appropriate occasion.
Kristin Bilyeu
ARS Early Career Scientist of the year (mid-west area) (Aug 2007)
Kristin was chosen for her discovery of molecular mechanisms for lowered linolenic acid content in soybeans and significant impact on soybean breeding efforts for enhanced nutritional content.
